MaZerella's Loves Sellersburg

At MaZerella's Upper Crust Pizza & Pasta, we've always said that we're not just a pizza restaurant — we're your neighbors. And this month, we got to prove it.

August has been one of our favorite months in a long time. Not because business was booming (though we're grateful for every order); but because we got to show up for this community in three ways that genuinely filled our hearts. Here's a look at what we've been up to.

Proud Sponsor of the Soul Fitt Run for Your Mental Health 5K

On the evening of Friday, August 14th, we headed out to the Silver Creek Primary cross country course where runners, walkers, and community members gathered for something more than a race — the Soul Fitt Run for Your Mental Health 5K.

MaZerella's was honored to be a sponsor of this incredible event, organized by the amazing Kayla and Jasmine from Soul Fitt. These two women pour their hearts into everything they do, and this event was no exception. The energy on that course was electric, and the cause behind it, mental health awareness, couldn't be more important.

A Free Pizza Party for the Sellersburg Community Food Pantry and Clothes Bank

This one started with you.

In July, we put out a call to our Facebook community asking you to nominate a local group that deserved a free pizza party. We were looking to treat the hardworking, often unrecognized people who give everything they've got without asking for anything in return. The responses blew us away, and we remain so impressed with and grateful for all the amazing organizations and groups in our community.

The volunteers and staff at the Sellersburg Community Food Pantry and Clothes Bank show up to make sure our neighbors have food on their tables and clothes on their backs, and we were happy to provide their volunteers with a well-deserved meal together.

Delivering that pizza party and watching the team sit down, take a break, and enjoy a meal together was one of the highlights of our month. It would have happened without our Facebook friends pointing us in the right direction, so thank you.

Feeding the Teachers at Silver Creek Primary on Their First Day Back

There's something about the first day back to school that brings out all the feels — for kids, for parents, and especially for teachers. These incredible men and women spend their summers preparing, planning, and getting ready to pour themselves into our children for another year. The least we could do was make sure they started the school year with a hot meal and a little love from MaZerella's.

We were so happy to provide pizza for the teachers and staff at Silver Creek Primary on their first day back. Seeing the smiles, the gratitude, and the excitement in that room reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

Why We Do This

We get asked sometimes why a small family-owned restaurant spends time and resources on community events and donations when we could be focused entirely on growing the business.

The answer is simple: this community is the reason we exist. We don't do these things for attention. We do them because it's the right thing to do, and because we genuinely believe that a business has a responsibility to take care of the community that takes care of it.

Sellersburg has given us so much. This is our way of giving back.
